Adaptive Harvest Management
In the eastern management unit, if monitoring efforts estimate dove populations are approaching 35 million birds, hunting regulations are adjusted to allow populations to increase. These restrictions would remain in place until the population recovers. If populations were to sink as low as 21 million birds, hunting would be suspended until populations recover.
