NY Dove Hunting Calendar
Explanation: Certain events requiring action by YOU and other dove hunting advocates are predictable, because they occur the same time each year, there is little change from year to year, and thus, the action needed changes little. Obviously, those events can be calendared.
Other events are random and these require that you pay attention to our correspondence and act as directed. In order to pay attention to our correspondence, you first need to make sure it reaches you. You must visit our website and Facebook page for updates. Facebook does NOT send everyone feed. It is sent on a rotational basis and only to a relatively few people – about 75 out of 1,000 subscribed. The exception is if you adjust your preference settings to receive ALL of our feed, then you will get it, if you check your feed regularly. The simple solution is to go directly to our Facebook page and read the feed, notes, events, etc. right off of the page. If you get our newsletter make sure you remain subscribed and it is delivered to your inbox not filtered to a secondary folder or a spam folder.

January: Joint Budget Hearing – DEC. This is our once a year opportunity to ask the Governor to more or less bypass the Legislature and jam a dove hunting proposal through the annual budget. The petition signatures and letters you can collect for us in a year will be used to support our request to the Governor. So, the more signatures you gather, the more likely we can influence this action.
March or April: Humane Lobby Day. We need to flood the Legislature with letters to counteract the efforts of the Humane Society of the United States New York State Branch which seeks to block mourning dove hunting, close the DEC Pheasant farm, and ban the hunting of woodcock, snipe, and rails.
